At MasterBike, we paint all aluminium and iron bicycle components. These components include frames, forks, mudguards, rims, handlebars, carriers, brackets, chain covers and baskets. The components are painted in two ways. Firstly, in two-layer painting, RAL or Pantone powder coating is applied to the components. Then, the second powder coating layer gives it an opaque or glossy effect.
The second painting method is three-layer coating. The difference between three-layer and two-layer coating is the extra layer between the two layers. This layer is a YS water-soluble colour, which, for the sake of precise application, is applied using a Stäubli robot. The first layer consists of polyester powder. These powders are supplied by top producers like Tiger, Axala or Pulvert. The second and the third layers may be polyester or polyurethane, depending on the customer’s requirements. These layers are supplied by Rembrandtin, Hodij and Tiger.
Applying decals under the opaque or glossy paints is an essential part of the painting process. The clients select the decal design according to their own preferences. Every layer is double checked or even triple checked upon application to achieve the best possible result.
